UPDATE: May 15, 2011 2:41 PM - *CANCELLED* - Stage 1 Lake Tahoe is cancelled due to severe snow conditions.
Lake Tahoe is ready for the AMGEN Tour of California, the largest cycling event in America. This Tour de France style road race cycling brings together the world's top cycling teams to compete in this year's eight stage race.

- Stage 1, South Lake Tahoe to North Lake Tahoe - Sunday, May 15
- Stage 2, North Lake Tahoe to Sacramento - Monday, May 16
- Stage 3, Auburn to Modesto - Tuesday, May 17

In South Lake Tahoe:
The Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe and Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra recognized several women with the Soroptimist Women's Opportunity Awards.
To be eligible, the applicants must be women. They must be the primary financial supporter for their families. They have to be enrolled in or be accepted in vocational or skill training program, or in an undergraduate degree program.
This year's winners are Tiffany Reid and Lisa Shafer. They will receive $2000 each. The cash award will help these women offset any costs that's associated with attaining higher education and…
